We hope everyone had a fantastic Mother's Day and Memorial Day! As we step into June, let's take a moment to reflect on some of the exciting highlights from May. We tried something new with a fabulous fellow local business and also got to support one of our very own patients as they danced to raise funds for an amazing cause. Candle Making and Wine Tasting with Savannah Wine Institute

Our team bonding night in May was an unforgettable experience where we combined the art of candle making with the delightful exploration of Chardonnay wines at Savannah Wine Institute!

We kicked off the event by crafting our very own 6oz Chardonnay-scented candles. This unique scent, a beautiful blend of oak, caramel, fruit, and popcorn notes, created a warm and inviting aroma. The process was not only fun but also eco-friendly, as we used 100% vegan soy wax and lead-free cotton wicks, ensuring a clean and sustainable burn. The joy of creating something with our own hands was truly rewarding. Each candle turned out beautifully, and we couldn’t wait to take them home and enjoy the soothing scent. The activity brought out our creative sides and allowed us to appreciate the intricate process behind making candles. The camaraderie among the team was palpable as we shared tips, admired each other’s creations, and enjoyed the relaxing ambiance of the workshop.

While we crafted our candles, we were guided through a wine tasting session led by the incredible Dayna Lee, founder of the Savannah Wine Institute. Dayna, a New Yorker with extensive experience at Wine.com and Maker’s Mark Distillery, enriched our evening with her expertise. We began with a warm welcome toast and palate-cleansing bread and cheese selections, setting the stage for an evening of sophisticated flavors and delightful aromas.

We tasted three different Chardonnay wines, each offering a unique profile. Dayna educated us on identifying flavors and understanding wine characteristics, which was both enlightening and fun. Many of us discovered a newfound appreciation for wines from warmer, humid climates, which tend to be more fruity and less dry. It was a revelation that not only expanded our palates but also gave us the confidence to select wines that we truly enjoy.

The evening was a perfect blend of education and enjoyment, leaving us with a deeper appreciation for both wine and the art of candle making. Dancing with the Stars Savannah: Supporting a Great Cause

May was also a month of giving back to the community. We were thrilled to support the Alzheimer’s Association through the Dancing Stars of Coastal Georgia Gala. This annual event is a dancing and fundraising competition that brings together local stars to showcase their talent on stage while raising funds for a vital cause.

Jamie Coleman Shines

One of the highlights was seeing one of our favorite patients, Jamie Coleman, take the stage as one of the dancers. Jamie’s performance was nothing short of spectacular, and we couldn’t be prouder of him! The event raised an astounding $315,227.49 for Alzheimer’s research and care, a testament to the generosity and dedication of our community.

The funds raised through this event help push the mission of the Alzheimer’s Association forward by funding research, advancing public policy, and providing local care and support for people living with the disease and their caregivers. It’s events like these that remind us of the power of community and the importance of supporting one another.

The Coastal Georgia community comes together each year for this glamorous event, which not only showcases incredible dancing talent but also fosters a spirit of unity and compassion. The competition includes a dazzling array of performances, each dancer vying for the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy and the People’s Choice Award. We were honored to play our part this year!
